TRUST

The word trust has become so controversial. As many had found it so difficult to mention and so the word is going into extinction in our society today and the practice of it can hardly be felt. Instead, the set of words; “me, I and myself” which does more damage than good had become so prevalent. After a lot of researches coupled the consultation of different dictionaries on the subject matter, the word trust can be defined as: the assured reliance on the character, strength, or truth of someone or something; it is the basis of faith, hope and confidence. Many people had forgotten that we don’t live in isolation. What you do affects me and what I do affects you. We are all connected and the only thing that can make our connection mutual is trust. In any level of relationship, for example, a boss to subordinate relationship, friendship or even courtship, the element trust is very valuable and necessary. Little wonder Abraham Lincoln; one of the best America’s president ever, once said “

THE BEST REVENGE

My topic for this article stems from the American slogan: the best revenge is massive success. Have you ever been rejected? You went for an interview and you were not selected? Have you done your seemingly best and all you get is disappointment? I’ve got an answer to your silent frustrations you do not need to be resentful or discouraged. The first thing that you must know is that, failure is not the worst thing in the world, the very worst thing is not to try. You are not a failure, you have made an attempt, and there are millions of people who are wallowing in the pool of complacency and mediocrity. The rejections, the disappointment and failure are all temporary setbacks. Tragedy is a place of passage and not a place of permanence. You must not take the failure as personal to you. The setback that you had is not peculiar to you alone nor customized to your name. There are many other people that are also going through similar things with you or even situations

WHAT MAKES US

Have you ever noticed that most of our behaviour is habitual? For they often come automatically without thinking. Have you ever thought of it that the future which you’ve been gazing on is chiefly determined by the habits you form daily? Then, relax and read this article. Habit is the accumulation of traits and qualities, acquired through a consistent practice which sums up to form our character. It is the ‘tiny thread’ we weave on a daily basis which becomes a cord of cable, too strong to break. Practice do not only makes perfect, but makes permanent, whatever is done repeatedly either perfect or otherwise. While good habits are hard to come by but easy to live with, bad habits on the other hand come easy but are hard to live with. Dear reader, at this juncture, I will like to share with you the three steps necessary in building positive habits that will be of no doubt turn over your dreams, goals and even fantasies into reality. The first step is “Positive thinking” – This is the

ATTITUDE

Do you know that the most important word in the English Language is attitude? For it applies to every sphere of life, including one’s personal and professional life or do you think an executive can ever be a good executive without a good attitude? A student being good without a good attitude? Can parents, salesperson, employers or employees be good in their roles without a good attitude? If no, then attitude is a critical factor in life and the popular saying “Attitude is everything is true and remains valid. There is no attribute of a man so powerful as his attitude. It dictates his response to the present and determines the quality of his future. A man’s attitude is the brick of his life, which bonds up to build his destiny. Little wonder that William James of Harvard University once said, “The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by uttering their attitudes of mind. Attitude creates one’s world and design one destiny. Dear reader, do y

DO NOT ROB US

It’s been confirmed that the wealthiest place on earth is not the Niger-Delta region of Nigeria, neither is it the diamond fields of South Africa. In fact, it is not the oil fields of Saudi –Arabic. The wealthiest place on earth is the cemetery. Where, you have books unpublished songs not sung, schools not built, skills not developed, talents not used, potentials not realized, industries that never saw the light of the day, leaders who never emerged from obscurity. It is amazing to note that eighty percent of human ability lies in the grave. I like to challenge you not to die with what you have for us. God has given you talents and abilities, which you cannot exhaust. Scientists even tell us that we only use 10 percent of our brain capacity during our life time. That is to say, that even the Thomas Edison and Henry fords of this world couldn’t have used more than 20 percent of their brain capacity. All of us has great abilities to bless humanity, but most of us are handicapped b

THE GREATEST LIFE BRAKES

What would happen if you drove your car with the brakes on? you would never go full speed because the brakes would offer resistance. Your car would overheat and break down. If it didn’t break down, the resistance would strain the engine. To get to your destination, you could either press the accelerator harder and make the car go faster. This analogy is a good illustration of many lives who go through life’s endeavors with their emotional brakes on. Then, what is the brake? it is fear. Fear is the second party of the destructive combination’ coupled with unbeliever to birth worry and cruelty. The root source of fear is childhood conditioning that causes us to develop two major type of fear. The fear of failure, which causes us to think “I can’t,” and the fear of responsibility which causes us to think I have to; we ended up feeling frustrated, insecured and caught in the double bind of “I have to, but I can’t” or “I can’t but I have to”, they destroy our potentials and sabotages our
