TRUST

The word trust has become so controversial. As many had found it so difficult to mention and so the word is going into extinction in our society today and the practice of it can hardly be felt. Instead, the set of words; “me, I and myself” which does more damage than good had become so prevalent.
After a lot of researches coupled the consultation of different dictionaries on the subject matter, the word trust can be defined as: the assured reliance on the character, strength, or truth of someone or something; it is the basis of faith, hope and confidence.
Many people had forgotten that we don’t live in isolation. What you do affects me and what I do affects you. We are all connected and the only thing that can make our connection mutual is trust.
In any level of relationship, for example, a boss to subordinate relationship, friendship or even courtship, the element trust is very valuable and necessary. Little wonder Abraham Lincoln; one of the best America’s president ever, once said “The glue, that binds together men to achieve success is Trust”
Different school of thought had thought us not to trust anyone. But do you know that a day would come that you will find yourself in a situation where all your knowledge and talents might not be of help but trust from someone might do; who would entrust to you an offer that would phenomenally change your status quo but remember, as respect is reciprocal so is trust.
Ben and Jerry were two childhood friends who went through school and college and even joined the army together, shortly afterwards, war broke out and they were fighting in the same unit. One night they were ambushed. Bullets were flying all over and out of the darkness came a scream “Jerry, please come and help me”. Of course, Jerry immediately recognized the voice of his childhood friend, Ben. He asked the captain if he could go. The captain, said “No”, I can’t let you go it’s risky. Jerry kept quiet. Again and again the voice kept coming “Jerry please come and help me” Jerry couldn’t contain himself any longer and told the captain “Captain, this is my childhood friend; I have to go and help”. The captain reluctantly let him go; Jerry crawled through the darkness and dragged Ben back into the trench. They found that Ben was dead. Now the captain got angry and shouted at Jerry, didn’t tell you he was not gong to make it? He is dead, you could have been killed and I could have become short handed. You made a mistake”. Jerry replied, “Captain, I did the right thing. When I reached Ben he was still alive and his last words were “Jerry, I knew you would come if you hear my voice”.
What a trust to the point of death.
In conclusion, the seed for trust is to be cultivated in your garden, nevertheless always be calculative, reasonable and be on a look out for folks who are not trustworthy.
